Tutorial: Make an Envelope from a Heart

Hello fellow crafters!

Today, here in Missouri, it is overcast and a little bleary out. The weather can't quite decide if it wants to be 60 degrees or 20. Today, it's more the latter. Valentine's Day is coming up fast. I don't do a lot of Valentine's crafting. I don't send cards for that day, except maybe to the hubster, and I don't have kids that need cards for parties. That being said, today I have a cute little project for you. Not only will it be nice for Valentine's Day, but you can adjust to for other occasions too. You'll see what I mean as we go on! Here is what you need

  • a paper heart. (the one I used was 3.5in across at it's widest point. I cut it with George and basic shapes cricut cartridge, but you can cut your own heart out by hand, use a punch, etc)
  • adhesive
  • a little know how
Let's begin! Stay tuned to the last part of this post to see what project I used this heart envelope on

First, take your paper heart. (the one shown here is 3.5in across at it's widest point) and lay it flat on your work surface

Take the sides of the heart and fold them in towards the middle. Seeing the photo on this step will help you understand just how to fold

Fold the heart again, towards the "pointy end" of the heart. Put adhesive just down the side (vertically) on both sides.

Close your envelope, pressing to set your adhesive.

Fold the pointy end over and there you go! Tiny envelope!

I used my envelope to make a bright and bold card! I used dimensional adhesive for the little heart and envelope to give it a little pop. A card like this could be used for Valentine's Day, or you could change up the paper, switch the heart out for something else. (a little piece of paper, perhaps to make a "dropping you a note card?)

I'd love to see your projects if you make some of these! Until next time, happy crafting!
