Today's post is featuring a layout I made with a few of the NEW ctmh products that are coming in the new Close to My Heart idea book/catalog. (get your own copy here). The paper is part of a new paper pack and the little girl and sentiment are from a new stamp set. I think you will love them as much as I do. I just got them in the mail today and I didn't even wait 8 hours to use them.
Things I used:
- ctmh stamp set, Paper Dolls: Everyday life (coming out on 2/1)
- black ink
- pacifica ink
- large acrylic block
- sharp scissors
- paper from the Chantilly paper pack (coming out 2/1)
- solid cardstock from the above pack cut into 2 pieces measuring 10 x 8 3/4 inches.
- 8 photos (preferably not the originals
- Dolphin die cuts. (I used the life's a beach cricut cartridge to cut dolphins. 2 in a pale color at 2.5in and 2 in a darker color at 2 inches
- Small squares of paper for journaling, (one darker colored and a little larger for the mat. One lighter colored for your writing space
- about 30 in of yellow ribbon
- 4 green brads
- adhesive runner and dimensional adhesive
- paper trimmer
- watercolor pencils and blending pen/Waterbrush
I stamped the images in black and colored them with my watercolor pencils. These are just two stamps out of the entire set. You'll have to wait until 2/1 to see them all! I then cut them out carefully. I then glued the outfit onto the girl.
I tend to make layouts that are more on the simplistic side of the spectrum. I like embellishments but I don't like too many. As you follow me on my blog in the future, you'll see more evidence of this.
I apologize for the crappy photos, I tried no less than 5 times and lighting/camera settings to take photos of these layouts. I will wait until I can get a sunny day here and take them outside for better photos. I just did not want to delay the post because I promised on Facebook it would be out today!
Using the supplies I listed above and a little creative fun, I came up with this. It is a layout of the hubster and I from vacation 2011 in the Outer Banks, NC. It was a dreary, crummy rainy day so we decided to go to Manteo and do a dolphin tour. We ended up having a great time. I thought the "when life gives you lemons" quote worked well. My journal box is still blank, but that's because I need to get a marker in Pacifica because I want it to match the ink.
See? You don't have to use blue or traditional beachy type papers for beach vacation photos!
Don't forget to pick up your own copy of the Spring/Summer 2013 Close to My Heart Idea book for these and many more awesome new items! Until next time, happy crafting!
