Layered Rainbow Card

Hello, everyone!

Today, I am going to show you how to be a little more creative with the stamp set "A Rainbow". It is on the retiring list and is only available on a while supplies last basis. It's only 6.95, so I highly recommend it. I have used mine quite a bit.  Let me first show you what the finished card looks like.

It's simplistic, but I still think its pretty. You might ask why I used so much black. Well, my intent was to make it like the rainbow was bringing color/happiness to the card. Kind of like the silver lining on a bad day if that makes sense. You might also wonder how I got three colors on the rainbow when the rainbow is just one stamp. I'll show you!

I used four colors of ink, Topiary, Pacifica, black and Cranberry. I took a white piece of cardstock and then I stamped the rainbow in the pacifica, cranberry and topiary, I would have used a yellow instead of green, but I don't seem to have any yellow ink on hand. Boo! I stamped a couple of them twice because I blurred one of them. You know it wouldn't be one of my posts if I didn't mess up at least one thing. I also stamped the clouds in black. I stamped 3 of them, since I am going to make 3 cards at a time. I then cut out all my pieces carefully

Here are all my pieces cut out. I cut out a black piece of cardstock at 4 x 5 for each card I was making. I also made three card blanks. You can make a card blank by cutting an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of cardstock down the middle  (of the long side) so you're left with two pieces that are 8.5 x 5.5in. Fold the piece in half to get a card.  I also cut a white piece of cardstock. a little smaller than the white piece. I think mine was 3.5 x 3.75.

You can see the card before adhering and before adding the twine

I adhered the white piece to the black piece and then arranged my rainbow pieces on the upper right corner of the page using a repositionable, archival safe glue stick. I used black to stamp the bird in the lower left corner. I stamped the sentiment in the upper left in black. I adhered the cloud at the end of the rainbow with dimensional adhesive to give it a little "pop". I took a length of twine and adhered it to the bottom of the black part of the paper. I made all three of my cards at once, assembly style. Once I had the cards together, I took my watercolor pencils and gave a bit of color to the leaves on the branch and the bird's beak. You can also use colored pencils if you have those.

That's about it for this card. Simple and cute. Don't forget that you can get this stamp set on a while supplies last basis here

Until next time, happy crafting!
