Generational Stamping

(this was one of the posts I had scheduled to post while I was out of state. It didn't post, so here we go! )

You may have heard the term "generational stamping" and wondered just what the heck that was. Today, I'm going to show you. It's actually a very helpful little stamping method. Let's begin! I'm using the same ink and stamp set mentioned in the last blog post.

Let's get those stamps on a block, get our ink and scrap paper out and begin! Generational stamping is when you keep stamping without re-inking. Remember the last post when we seasoned our stamps? It's pretty much the same thing.

The first "generation" would be the first image stamped (the darkest). The second generation would be the next stamped without re-inking (second lightest) with third generation being even lighter.  You might ask what the point of that is? Well, you might not want a really dark image. Maybe you want something lighter? You'd stamp the first generation on a scrap piece and then stamp again directly on your project. Basically, you're greatly expanding the colors of ink you have without actually buying more ink.  Also, as the inks get lighter and lighter, sometimes you'll even have "unstamped gaps" which can give an image a rustic look. Too cool, right?

Wondering how to integrate it into a card project? I'll cover that tomorrow
Happy Crafting~
