Clean and Simple Color Challenge!

Good evening!

I had a wisdom tooth pulled today, so since I'm drugged up a little bit and pain-free (for now), I decided to post my contribution to the CAS190 Color Challenge!  The challenge called for the use of the following colors:

  • Coral
  • Yellow
  • Aqua
  • White
Now for my "card recipe".

  • Paper trimmer
  • Solid cardstock 3.75in x 4.75 in rectangle.
  • Patterned cardstock. 4in x 5in rectangle
  • 3 inch sqaure pieces of coordinating cardstock
  • Dimensional Adhesive
  • Stamp set "Perfect Day" by Close to My Heart
  • regular adhesive/tape runner of your choice
  • coordinating ink/chalk to stamp your image
  • white cardstock for your card base.
Optional items:
  • small length of matching ribbon
  • coordinating brad accent
  • any other bling or embellies of your choice!
No specific shades or brand of ink needed, just grab the closest color you've got and craft away! I looked through my stamps and knew that I wanted to use my Perfect Day Stamps from CTMH. I also had a retired paper packet from CTMH called "Elemental" that used those colors. Bonus! My problem is that when I know I am for sure using something, I end up having a creative block. For example, I might sit down and say "okay, I need to make  baby cards" but then sit there for an hour unable to put anything together that I'm happy with. I used Martha Stewart chalk in color " Forget Me Not" to stamp the lighthouse image (I love love love lighthouses). I used my paper trimmer to cut the excess paper from around the lighthouse image. It's okay if you cut off a bit of the bottom "vegetation area" of the image. I had to do that to get it to fit on the card the way I wanted it. I cut a piece of the yellow patterned Elemental paper to the dimensions 5inches x 4inches. I then cut a piece of the solid orange cardstock from the same paper pack to the dimensions 3.75 x 4.75inches. I centered and then layered the orange paper on top of the yellow layer. I then used the Martha Stewart chalk in "pineapple" to chalk the edges of the lighthouse image. I used dimensional adhesive to attach the lighthouse image on the left side of the layered yellow and orange papers. I cut out 1inch squares out of the yellow patterned paper. It's double sided with a pattern with an aqua color, so that worked perfectly. I dug in my stash and found a piece of random teal ribbon and tied a bow with a brad around the center. I turned the cut out squares on their corners and affixed them with the dimensional adhesive to the right side of the card vertically. I used my tape runner to attach the whole thing to a white cardstock base I made from 1/2 piece of 8.5 x 11in cardstock.  I left the inside of the card blank, but the stamp set I was using had great quotes I could have used if I wanted to!

This card was fun. You can do a card like this to use up little pieces of scrap paper (for the squares). It wasn't the normal colors I would have used for a card like this. What do you think of these colors with this kind of nautical imagry? If you take part in the challenge, I'd love to see what you came up with!
