TP Roll Treat Pouches

Hello again, everyone!

Today, I'm going to show you how to make a precious little treat pouch using toilet paper rolls! Yes, you read that right! Toilet paper rolls. You can only use bigger rolls such as from wrapping paper or from paper towel rolls. You just cut them into multiple rolls. I think you'd get about 3 from a paper towel roll, but I haven't tried it myself yet.

Here is the finished project.  It doesn't really take that much in the way of supplies. A lot of them are optional. Once you make the basic pouch, you can embellish it however you like. Dress it up for a gift. You can tuck a giftcard, cash, candy or a sweet note inside. The best part is that you recycled AND made something cute at the same time. Let's get started. Here is what I used

Supplies:

  • toilet paper roll
  • a piece of red cardstock that's cut to 6in x 4.25in
  • Cranberry ink
  • acrylic block and stamp set "Paper Doll: Everyday Life from the upcoming Spring/Summer 2013 Idea Book from Close to My Heart
  • Cricut and Cartridge Create a Critter (for the cupcake).
  • small pieces of lavender, pink polka dotted, black and red cardstock(for the cupcake and the sentiment)
  • a length of pale pink ribbon
  • hole punch
  • small piece of black cardstock (to back the sentiment)
  • adhesive
  • Hot glue and glue stick

First, take your toilet paper roll and get all the little tp remnants off. Sometimes that's easier said than done, for sure. Sticky little buggers. Flatten your TP roll

Put some adhesive on your paper and center your TP roll in the center as seen above. Press down to set your adhesive.

Fold the paper over the TP roll and press to set the adhesive.

Apply some hot glue to the inside along the bottom of one end of your TP roll. Press to close until dry and set.

I embellished my pocket using the cupcake character from the 'create a character" cricut cartridge. It's pretty much my favorite cartridge so far. Of course, I only have about 5 cartridges, so that may change one day if I hit the lottery and can buy more carts.

Punch a hole in the top of your TP roll pocket and thread a ribbon through for the pocket closure. I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of pink polka dot cardstock and matted/backed it with a piece of black. I threaded the closure ribbon through a hole I punched in the little makeshift tag and voila! You have a cute little treat/gift card pocket.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Share the photo if you make this little cute project. Don't forget to repin this on my pinterest page too.
Until next time, happy crafting!
